# Beehive Industries clears path to flight testing for Frenzy engine

[Beehive Industries, an American manufacturer of advanced propulsion systems focused on uncrewed aerial defense applications](https://www.voxelmatters.directory/company/beehive3d/), delivered the final testing milestone for its Frenzy 200 lbf engine. The company concluded a rigorous high-altitude test campaign, confirming the engine’s successful ignition and performance capability, and clearing the path for flight testing scheduled for the first quarter of 2026. The testing validated the system’s performance across its full flight envelope, advancing a program built to deliver cutting-edge propulsion.

## High on validation

The successful high-altitude campaign took place at a government test facility in Ohio. The results validated the engine’s capability by meeting or exceeding challenging Air Force requirements, according to the company. Throughout the series of tests, the Frenzy engines demonstrated successful ignition and operation across the flight envelope, rapid acceleration from light-off to 100% engine speed, and turbine temperatures and thrust-specific fuel consumption that were better than predicted. The company also reported that the hardware was in "like new" condition after mission-life equivalent runtime. This achievement was reached in less than a year, with the engine going from concept to proven high-altitude performance ahead of the original timeline.

“The milestone confirms Frenzy’s readiness for flight integration,” said David Kimball, Chief Technology Officer at Beehive Industries. “In less than a year, we’ve gone from concept to proven high-altitude performance — and we’re doing it ahead of schedule because of the talented and determined team at Beehive. Frenzy is now flight-ready, and our production system is ready to scale alongside it.”

## Additive-first

The test campaign validated Beehive’s additive-first manufacturing approach, which the company claims allows it to compress traditional aerospace development cycles from years to months while delivering cost and performance benefits. With the conclusion of altitude testing, the manufacturer is preparing to scale production to meet anticipated customer demand.

The Frenzy engine program is building on a $12.46 million U.S. Air Force Rapid Sustainment Office (RSO) / University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) contract awarded in October 2024. The engine family, which spans 100 to 300 lbf, is designed to power next-generation uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) with an emphasis on efficiency and reliability. The company is preparing to integrate the Frenzy engine with its first flight vehicle, the final step before moving into low-rate initial production, and its facilities in Denver, Cincinnati, and Knoxville are already ramping capacity.
